Sungevity Review
Founded in 2007, Oakland-based Sungevity operates in the following states:
- California
- Arizona
- Colorado
- Connecticut
- Massachusetts
- Maryland
- New Mexico
- New York
- New Jersey
- North Carolina
- Vermont
- Delaware
- Washington, DC
Sungevity is notable because of its partnership with a non-profit called Empowered By Light, which is dedicated to improving lives through renewable energy technologies. In fact, EBL donates one solar light kit to schools in Zambia for every residential solar system installed by Sungevity in the US!

Sungevity Solar Panels: Cost
Like other solar companies, Sungevity offers a range of financing options: cash purchase, financing with a solar loan, leasing a system, and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
- Cash purchase: No monthly payments. You’ll be able to take advantage of federal and local incentives to go solar.
- Solar loan: You make a monthly payment until the loan is paid off, and you can explore solar incentives. Sungevity will help you find a lender and a competitive rate.
- Leasing: Pay a minimal cost upfront, and then pay a monthly amount to the lease provider.
- PPA: You only pay for the electricity you produce, and Sungevity handles all the tax rebates.
Sungevity provides a stellar 20-year guarantee on their solar panels, and the company uses Remote Solar Design technology to provide you with a quote and customize your system.
Sungevity solar panels are used by respectable, environmentally-conscious brands like the Sierra Club.
Sungevity Complaints
Sungevity complaints are few and far between. According to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), customers primarily have issues with the product or customer service. One customer noted that they didn’t receive the low-profile solar panel installation they were promised.
Overall, Sungevity has a stellar A+ rating by the BBB, due in part to their commitment to quickly addressing problems and concerns. For the customer with the low-profile solar panels, a comment from a Sungevity representative notes that they plan on replacing their system mounts.
