Makeup has never been something I thought to DIY. But when you use natural beauty products, you know exactly what’s in the product and on your body. It’s also a nice bonus when many items in your kitchen have another use in DIY cosmetics.
So, I spent a Sunday afternoon doing some research and kitchen chemistry. I learned making your own products is neither time-consuming nor expensive. In fact, the most complicated part of making any of these products was melting beeswax and shea butter in the microwave.
Using just a handful of ingredients, I made almost enough products for a full face: powder foundation, lipstick, blush, and eyeliner. Some turned out great, and others, not so much.
